Turquoise Lagoon is a sweet pea grown for its unusual turquoise-blue blooms and sweet fragrance. Like all sweet peas, it is a cool-season annual climber that needs a trellis or netting to climb. Cut the fragrant stems often — regular picking keeps new flowers coming all season.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Unusual turquoise-blue blooms with a sweet scent
  • Vigorous climbing habit to 5-6 feet — give it a trellis
  • Excellent fragrant cut flower; the more you pick, the more it blooms

How to grow Sweet Pea Turquoise Lagoon seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost in deep pots.
  • Outdoors: Direct sow in early spring as soon as soil can be worked, or in fall in mild climates.

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
  • Well-draining potting mix
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Soak seeds overnight in lukewarm water; nick any that stay hard with sandpaper.
  • Sow 1 inch deep in rich, well-drained soil.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Bright light.
  • Temperature: 55-70°F (13-21°C) — sweet peas germinate best in cool conditions.

Germination

  • Seeds sprout in 7-14 days (up to 21 in cool soil).
  • Grow on cool and bright to keep seedlings stocky.

Transplanting

  • When seedlings have 2-3 sets of leaves
  • Harden off; plant out while the weather is still cool
  • Space 6 inches apart at the base of a trellis

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun.
  • Water: Water regularly; do not let soil dry out completely.
  • Fertilizer: Work compost into the soil at planting; feed monthly once blooming.
  • Pinch stems after the second leaf set to encourage branching.
  • Provide a trellis or netting — plants climb 5-6 feet.
  • Caution: seeds and pods are poisonous if eaten.

Bloom Time:

June to September; cut or deadhead often to extend flowering.
