My Navy is a sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) bred by Dr. Keith Hammett, bearing large, gently ruffled blooms in a true deep navy blue with an intense perfume. Strong vines climb 6–10 feet, making it a striking choice for trellises, fences, and cutting. Note: the pods and seeds of sweet peas are not edible.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Large, ruffled blooms in a true deep navy blue
  • Intensely fragrant flowers, excellent for cutting
  • Strong climbing vines reach 6–10 feet

How to grow Sweet Pea My Navy seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Sow in deep pots in late winter to early spring; sweet peas form long roots.
  • Outdoors: Sow in place in mid-spring after frost; in mild climates, autumn sowing also works.

Prepare Your Materials

  • Deep pots or root trainers (if indoors)
  • Well-draining potting mix
  • Trellis, netting, or other support
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Sow 1/2–1 inch deep.
  • Soaking seeds overnight before sowing can speed germination.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Full sun.
  • Temperature: Cool germination, about 55–70°F (13–21°C).

Germination

  • Seedlings usually emerge in 7–21 days.
  • Grow on in cool, bright conditions.

Transplanting

  • Plant out in early spring; sweet peas tolerate light frost.
  • Provide the climbing support at planting time.
  • Space plants about 6 inches apart.

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun (light shade is tolerated).
  • Water: Keep evenly moist; do not let plants dry out in hot weather.
  • Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks while in growth.
  • Pick blooms regularly to encourage more flowers.

Bloom Time:

Summer, about 90 days from sowing.
