- Blooms from summer until frost in containers and baskets
How to grow Roseform Mix Begonia seeds
Choose Your Planting Method
- Indoors: Start seeds indoors in winter (December-January) for summer blooms — tuberous begonias are slow from seed.
- Outdoors: Outdoors: Start indoors; transplant out after all frost danger has passed.
Prepare Your Materials
- Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
- Well-draining potting mix
- Clear plastic wrap or a humidity dome
- Optional: seedling heat mat
- Spray bottle for misting
Sowing the Seeds
- Scatter the dust-like seeds on the surface of moist, fine seed-starting mix — do not cover, they need light to germinate
- Press very gently and mist lightly
Provide the Right Conditions
- Light: Bright, indirect light; seeds need light to germinate
- Temperature: 75-78°F (23-25°C)
- Humidity: Cover with a dome or plastic wrap to hold high humidity; ventilate to prevent mold
Germination
- Expect germination in 7-14 days under warm, humid conditions
- Seedlings grow slowly — keep them warm and bright
Transplanting
- Transplant into individual pots when seedlings are about 2 inches tall
- Move outdoors only after all frost danger has passed
- Space plants 8-10 inches apart
Care Tips
- Sun: Partial shade to shade; protect from hot afternoon sun
- Water: Keep soil evenly moist; avoid wetting the foliage
- Fertilizer: Feed regularly with a balanced liquid fertilizer for continuous bloom
- In fall, tubers can be lifted and stored over winter in cool, dry conditions
Bloom Time:
Summer through first frost.
