How to grow Rose Bon Bon Cosmos seeds
Choose Your Planting Method
- Indoors: Start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost.
- Outdoors: Direct sow after the last frost, once the soil has warmed.
Prepare Your Materials
- Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
- Well-draining potting mix
- Spray bottle for misting
Sowing the Seeds
- Sow shallowly, about 1/8 inch deep.
- Keep evenly moist until germination.
Provide the Right Conditions
- Light: Bright light.
- Temperature: 70-75°F (21-25°C).
Germination
- 5-10 days.
- Grow on in bright light; pinch young plants for bushier growth.
Transplanting
- After the last frost.
- Harden off before planting out.
- 8-10 inches apart.
Care Tips
- Sun: Full sun.
- Water: Keep moist until established; avoid overwatering and very rich soil, which produce foliage at the expense of flowers.
- Fertilizer: Generally not needed — cosmos bloom best in average soil.
- Deadhead to prolong flowering; cut stems just as buds begin to open for the longest vase life.
Bloom Time:
Summer through fall, beginning about 8-12 weeks after sowing.
