Queen Lime Orange (Zinnia elegans) is one of the sought-after Queen series zinnias, bearing fully double blooms in smoky peach-apricot shades around soft lime-green centers. On strong 30–40 inch stems, it is a standout in cutting gardens and borders, and the more you cut, the more it blooms.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Unusual antique-toned blooms with lime-green centers
  • Cut-and-come-again stems that keep producing all season
  • Excellent for cutting gardens, mixed borders, and containers

How to grow Queen Lime Orange Zinnia seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Start 4–6 weeks before the last frost; zinnias resent root disturbance, so use deep cells.
  • Outdoors: Direct sow after the last frost, once soil is above 70°F (21°C).

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
  • Well-draining potting mix
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Sow 1/4 inch deep and cover lightly with soil.
  • No special pre-treatment is needed; warmth is the key.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Bright light or full sun once seedlings emerge.
  • Temperature: 75–85°F (24–29°C) gives the fastest germination.

Germination

  • Seedlings emerge in 7–10 days at warm temperatures; cooler soil slows them down.
  • Keep soil evenly moist until sprouts appear, then water at the base of the plants.

Transplanting

  • Set out after the last frost when nights stay warm.
  • Harden off for 7–10 days first; disturb roots as little as possible.
  • Space plants 8–12 inches apart.

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun; zinnias thrive in summer heat.
  • Water: Water regularly until established, then during dry spells; avoid wetting the foliage.
  • Fertilizer: Light compost at planting is usually enough.
  • Pinch the first bud to encourage branching, deadhead or cut stems often, and sow every 2 weeks for continuous flowers.

Bloom Time:

About 75–80 days from seed; blooms summer through frost.
