Pink Sparkler Blush Cleome (Cleome hassleriana 'Sparkler Blush') is a dwarf hybrid spider flower and a 2002 All-America Selections winner. It carries big, 4- to 6-inch airy blooms of blush pink brushed with white on bushy, well-branched plants that reach about 3-4 feet - compact enough for mid-border spots smaller gardens can enjoy.
Why choose our seeds?
- Large spidery blooms of light pink brushed with white
- Dwarf, bushy habit about 3-4 feet tall - fits smaller gardens
- Flowers freely from early summer until frost; excellent cut flower
How to grow Pink Sparkler Blush Cleome seeds
Choose Your Planting Method
- Indoors: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date.
- Outdoors: Direct sow after the last frost, when the soil has warmed.
Prepare Your Materials
- Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
- Well-draining seed-starting mix
- Spray bottle for misting
Sowing the Seeds
- Sow on the surface and press gently into the mix; cleome seeds need light to germinate.
- Chilling seeds in the refrigerator for 5-7 days before sowing can improve germination.
Provide the Right Conditions
- Light: Bright light; seedlings need strong light to stay sturdy.
- Temperature: 70-75°F (21-24°C) for germination.
Germination
- Seeds sprout in 7-21 days; some are slow, so keep the mix evenly moist.
- Thin or transplant seedlings so they are not crowded.
Transplanting
- Set plants out after all danger of frost has passed and the weather is warm.
- Space plants 12-18 inches apart.
Care Tips
- Sun: Full sun; cleome thrives in baking-hot spots.
- Water: Water well to establish; mature plants tolerate drier spells.
- Fertilizer: Compost at planting is usually enough; feed lightly if growth stalls.
- Pinch young plants for bushier growth; remove seed pods to limit self-seeding.
Bloom Time:
Early summer until frost, with blooms opening as soon as hot weather arrives.
