Why choose our seeds?
- Sweetly fragrant flowers on climbing vines — a classic cottage-garden favorite
- Excellent cut flower; regular picking keeps new blooms coming
- Cool-season grower that flowers in late spring and early summer
How to grow Pandemonium Sweet Pea seeds
Choose Your Planting Method
- Indoors: Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost in deep pots or root trainers — sweet peas make long taproots.
- Outdoors: Sow directly outdoors in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked, or in autumn in mild climates for earlier flowers.
Prepare Your Materials
- Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
- Well-draining potting mix
- Deep pots or root trainers for the long taproots
- Spray bottle for misting
Sowing the Seeds
- Soak seeds in room-temperature water for 12-24 hours; nick any seeds that do not swell with a small file and return them to the water
- Sow about 1 inch deep in moist seed-starting mix
Provide the Right Conditions
- Light: Bright light after germination; grow seedlings on cool and bright so they stay stocky
- Temperature: 55-65°F (13-18°C) for germination
Germination
- Germination takes 7-21 days in cool conditions
- Move seedlings to a cool, bright spot (around 50°F / 10°C is ideal) so they develop strong roots rather than leggy stems
Transplanting
- Transplant after frost danger has passed, disturbing the roots as little as possible
- Harden off over 7-10 days
- Space plants 6-12 inches apart at the base of a trellis, netting, or canes
Care Tips
- Sun: Full sun
- Water: Keep soil evenly moist; do not let plants dry out in warm weather
- Fertilizer: Feed lightly once established; rich soil is not needed
- Provide support early — put trellis or netting in place before the vines start climbing
- Pinch out the growing tip once seedlings have 2-3 sets of true leaves to encourage branching, and pick flowers regularly to extend the display
Bloom Time:
Late spring into summer; plants fade as hot weather arrives.
