Florific is a seed-grown series of New Guinea impatiens (Impatiens hawkeri) selected for uniformity and strong branching. This mix brings large blooms in pink, red, orange, purple, white, and bicolors above glossy green foliage. Plants form tidy mounds about 12 inches tall, ideal for shaded containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, and patio borders.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Large vibrant blooms in a full color mix
  • Thrives in shade, where few annuals bloom so freely
  • Compact, well-branched plants for containers and baskets

How to grow New Guinea Impatiens Florific Mix seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Start indoors 10-12 weeks before the last frost; impatiens need a long head start.
  • Outdoors: Not frost-tolerant; move outdoors only after all danger of frost and when nights stay above 50°F (10°C).

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
  • Well-draining seed-starting mix
  • Humidity dome or plastic wrap (to hold in moisture)
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Sow from January to March on the surface of moist seed mix; cover with vermiculite but do not exclude light.
  • Water from below and keep humid with a cover; avoid setting a covered tray in direct sun.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Needed for germination; give bright light once seedlings sprout.
  • Temperature: 72-75°F (22-24°C); above 80°F (27°C) produces leggy seedlings.
  • Humidity: Keep humid with a dome or plastic wrap until germination.

Germination

  • Germination typically takes 15-30 days.
  • Give one weak feeding once seedlings are up, increasing strength as they grow.

Transplanting

  • Pot on when seedlings are sturdy; plant out after frost, 8-12 inches apart.
  • Harden off gradually before moving outdoors.

Care Tips

  • Sun: Part shade; more sun-tolerant than bedding impatiens if roots stay moist.
  • Water: Keep evenly moist; stems wilt quickly when dry.
  • Fertilizer: Feed lightly and regularly; heavy feeding favors leaves over flowers.
  • Remove faded flowers and trim lightly to keep plants compact.

Bloom Time:

Late spring until frost.
