Multi-color Mix Rose grows garden roses from seed, producing a surprise assortment of blooms that can range across shades of pink, red, white, and yellow. Each seedling is genetically unique, so no two bushes turn out exactly alike. Growing roses from seed takes patience, but it is the only way to raise roses that are entirely your own.
Why choose our seeds?
- A mix of colors — every seedling blooms a little differently
- Grows into classic rose shrubs with repeat flowering once established
- A rewarding long-term project for the patient gardener
How to grow Multi-color Mix Rose seeds
Choose Your Planting Method
- Indoors: Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, after completing cold stratification (see below).
- Outdoors: Sow stratified seeds outdoors in spring, after the last frost.
Prepare Your Materials
- Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
- Well-draining potting mix
- Clear plastic wrap or humidity dome
- Spray bottle for misting
Sowing the Seeds
- Cold stratify first: mix seeds with damp (not wet) vermiculite or a paper towel in a sealed bag and refrigerate for 8-12 weeks.
- Sow 1/4 inch deep in seed-starting mix.
Provide the Right Conditions
- Light: Bright, indirect light once sprouted; move to strong light as seedlings grow.
- Temperature: Around 70-75°F (21-24°C) after stratification.
- Humidity: A cover helps hold moisture during the long wait for sprouts.
Germination
- Germination is slow and uneven — expect sprouts over 4-12 weeks after stratification.
- Keep the soil evenly moist and remove the cover once seedlings emerge.
Transplanting
- When seedlings have several true leaves
- Harden off for 7-10 days before moving outdoors
- Space 18-24 inches apart in the garden
Care Tips
- Sun: Full sun (6+ hours daily) for the strongest bloom.
- Water: Water deeply and regularly; keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
- Fertilizer: Feed established plants with a balanced fertilizer in spring.
- Each seedling is genetically unique — flower color and form will vary.
Bloom Time:
Allow a full season or two for seed-grown roses to reach blooming size. Established plants bloom repeatedly through the growing season.
