Marigold Flamenco (Tagetes patula) is a French marigold variety with an unusual reverse bicolor pattern: yellow centers with red-tipped petals. It forms a mounded, well-branched plant about 10-12 inches tall and blooms from late spring to late summer, excellent for borders, edging, and containers.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Yellow-centered blooms with red-tipped petals in a reverse bicolor pattern
  • Mounded, well-branched plants about 10-12 inches tall
  • Blooms from late spring to late summer

How to grow Marigold Flamenco seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date.
  • Outdoors: Sow directly outdoors after all danger of frost has passed, when soil has warmed.

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
  • Well-draining potting mix
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Sow about 1/4 inch deep in seed-starting mix and cover lightly with vermiculite or fine mix.
  • Keep the soil evenly moist until germination.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Bright light after germination; full sun for growing plants.
  • Temperature: 68-72°F (20-22°C) for germination.

Germination

  • Seeds typically germinate in 4-7 days.
  • Grow seedlings on in bright light at around 65-70°F (18-21°C).

Transplanting

  • Transplant after all danger of frost, once seedlings are sturdy with true leaves.
  • Harden off gradually before planting out.
  • Space plants 6-10 inches apart.

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun for the heaviest bloom.
  • Water: Water regularly; allow the top of the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid soggy soil.
  • Fertilizer: A light application of balanced fertilizer at planting is usually enough; avoid heavy nitrogen.
  • Deadhead spent flowers regularly to keep new blooms coming into late summer.

Bloom Time:

Late spring to late summer.
