Korean Perilla (Perilla frutescens), also called kkaennip, is a warm-season annual herb grown for its large, aromatic green leaves with a distinctive basil-mint flavor. A staple of Korean cooking, the leaves are used fresh as wraps for grilled meats, in salads, and pickled as a banchan side. The bushy plants reach 2–3 feet.
