Intenz is a wheat-type celosia (Celosia argentea, spicata group) with slender, upright, wheat-like flower spikes that add fine texture to borders. This heat-loving annual blooms from midsummer until frost with minimal fuss, and the spikes are superb both fresh and dried in arrangements.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Distinctive wheat-like flower spikes
  • Excellent for cutting and drying
  • Thrives in summer heat; blooms midsummer to frost

How to grow Intenz Wheat Celosia seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost.
  • Outdoors: Direct sow after the last frost, when the weather is reliably warm.

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
  • Well-draining seed-starting mix
  • Humidity dome or plastic wrap (to hold in moisture)
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Surface sow: press seed gently into moist mix and do not cover (a dusting of vermiculite is fine); light is required for germination.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Required for germination; keep the tray bright.
  • Temperature: 70-75°F (21-24°C).
  • Humidity: Keep covered or misted until germination.

Germination

  • Seedlings emerge in 7-14 days.
  • Keep evenly moist under a dome or mist until germination.

Transplanting

  • Set out after all danger of frost, 8-12 inches apart.
  • Celosia dislikes cold, wet soil; wait until nights are warm.

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun; too much shade makes plants leggy with smaller flower heads.
  • Water: Keep evenly moist until established; avoid wetting the foliage.
  • Fertilizer: A light monthly feeding keeps growth steady; stunted plants bloom prematurely with small flowers.
  • Deadhead spent spikes to encourage more blooms.

Bloom Time:

Midsummer to first frost; about 60-90 days from sowing.
