Garland daisy (Glebionis coronaria, also sold as Chrysanthemum coronarium) is a cheerful cool-season annual that produces masses of yellow and white daisies on feathery green foliage. Fast from seed to flower — often blooming in just 6–7 weeks — it is a favorite for spring beds, and its tender leaves are also eaten as a green.
Why choose our seeds?
- Cheerful yellow and white daisies on airy, feathery foliage
- Very fast — blooms about 40–50 days from sowing
- Cool-season flower that shines in spring and fall plantings
How to grow Garland Daisy seeds
Choose Your Planting Method
- Outdoors: Direct sow in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked, or in late summer to fall — it prefers cool weather.
- Indoors: Start 4–6 weeks before the last frost if you want the earliest blooms.
Prepare Your Materials
- Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
- Well-draining potting mix
- Spray bottle for misting
Sowing the Seeds
- Sow 1/4 inch deep and cover lightly with soil.
- No pre-treatment is needed.
Provide the Right Conditions
- Light: Full sun to part shade.
- Temperature: 55–70°F (13–21°C); cool soil gives the best germination.
Germination
- Seedlings emerge in 7–14 days.
- Keep the soil evenly moist until sprouts appear.
Transplanting
- Set out in early spring while the weather is still cool.
- Thin or space plants about 6 inches apart.
Care Tips
- Sun: Full sun to part shade.
- Water: Keep soil consistently moist; fertility and moisture give lush plants.
- Fertilizer: Average garden soil is fine.
- Sow every 2–3 weeks for a steady supply, deadhead or harvest leaves to keep plants tidy, and let a few heads set seed if you want it to return on its own.
Bloom Time:
About 40–50 days from sowing; flowers spring to early summer (fades in heat).
