Florence Pink is a pink-flowered cornflower (Centaurea cyanus), or bachelor's button, with soft pink, fringed blooms on upright stems. Plants grow about 24-36 inches tall and bloom over a long season. A classic cottage-garden flower, lovely in borders and fresh or dried arrangements.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Fringed pink blooms on tall, upright stems
  • Long bloom season; good for cutting and drying
  • 30 seeds per packet

How to grow Florence Pink Cornflower seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Start indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost.
  • Outdoors: Direct sow in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked, or in fall in mild climates.

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
  • Well-draining seed-starting mix
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Sow 1/4 inch deep and cover lightly with soil.
  • Keep the seedbed evenly moist until germination.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Full sun.
  • Temperature: 60-70°F (16-21°C) for germination.

Germination

  • Seedlings emerge in 7-14 days.
  • Thin to the strongest seedlings.

Transplanting

  • Transplant before seedlings reach 5 inches tall — cornflowers prefer direct sowing.
  • Space plants 8-12 inches apart.

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun; tolerates light shade.
  • Water: Water regularly until established; tolerates drier soil afterward.
  • Fertilizer: Average soil is fine; avoid heavy feeding.
  • Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering; leave a few heads to self-sow.

Bloom Time:
