Flamingo Feather Celosia (Celosia spicata) is a wheat-type celosia with soft, feathery pink plumes that rise like flames above green foliage. The plumes keep their color beautifully when dried, making them a favorite for everlasting arrangements. Sow indoors ahead of spring; celosia loves heat and will not tolerate cold soil.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Soft, feathery pink plumes with a unique wheat-like texture
  • Excellent dried flowers; plumes hold their color in arrangements
  • Heat-loving and easy; blooms for months in full sun

How to grow Flamingo Feather Celosia seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Sow 6-8 weeks before your last frost; celosia seedlings are cold-sensitive.
  • Outdoors: Direct sow only after nights are reliably warm.

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots
  • Well-draining seed-starting mix
  • Clear plastic dome or wrap to hold humidity
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Sow on the surface of the mix and press in gently; the seeds need light to germinate, so do not cover them.
  • Mist to settle the seeds and keep the surface moist.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Light is required; do not bury the seeds.
  • Temperature: 72-80°F (22-27°C).

Germination

  • Seeds germinate in 8-14 days at warm temperatures.
  • Grow seedlings on in strong light and warm conditions.

Transplanting

  • Plant out only after all danger of frost and when nights stay warm, spacing plants 10-12 inches apart.
  • Harden off gradually; cold checks the plants' growth.

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun and heat for the best plumes.
  • Water: Keep the soil evenly moist; do not let plants dry out.
  • Fertilizer: Feed lightly through the season for the fullest plumes.
  • Cut plumes for drying when they are fully colored but before seeds set.

Bloom Time:
