Double Kalanchoe Mix grows Calandiva-type kalanchoes (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) with fully double, rose-like blooms in a range of colors, held in clusters above scalloped, succulent green leaves. They are classic long-blooming houseplants.

As a seed mix, expect varied colors among the seedlings; the exact double forms of named varieties are not guaranteed from seed, which makes each flowering plant a small surprise.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Double, rose-like blooms in mixed colors on compact succulent plants
  • Long bloom season as a bright indoor plant
  • Easy succulent care — modest water and bright light

How to grow Double Kalanchoe seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Start indoors any time; warmth and light matter more than season.
  • Outdoors: Outdoor sowing is not recommended — grow as a houseplant.

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
  • Well-draining potting mix
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Surface sow the very fine seed on moist mix and do not cover.
  • Mist gently; a humidity dome helps keep the surface evenly moist.

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Bright, indirect light for germination; bright light with some direct sun for growing plants.
  • Temperature: 70–75°F (21–24°C).
  • Humidity: Lightly moist but never soggy; good air circulation prevents rot.

Germination

  • Germination in about 7 to 14 days, sometimes a few weeks.
  • Seedlings are tiny; grow on warm and bright.

Transplanting

  • Pot up into small pots of cactus/succulent mix when seedlings are large enough to handle.
  • Spacing: One plant per 4–6 inch pot to start.

Care Tips

  • Sun: Bright light; a sunny windowsill suits them.
  • Water: Water when the top inch of soil is dry; kalanchoes store water in their leaves and rot in soggy soil.
  • Fertilizer: Light feeding with a balanced houseplant fertilizer during active growth.
  • Deadhead spent flower clusters to encourage further buds. Keep away from cold drafts; bring outdoor summer pots inside before frost.

Bloom Time:

Seed-grown plants generally bloom once mature, often in late winter to spring under naturally short days.
