Century Mix Celosia produces feathery, flame-like plumes in a warm mix of colors on sturdy, upright stems. These plume-type celosias bloom for months and make long-lasting cut flowers.

Why choose our seeds?

  • Feathery plume flower heads in a range of warm colors
  • Blooms continuously from summer into fall
  • Excellent for cutting — fresh or dried

How to grow Century Mix Celosia seeds

Choose Your Planting Method

  • Indoors: Start seeds 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Celosia dislikes cold soil, so wait until it is warm.
  • Outdoors: Direct sow after the last frost, when nights are reliably warm.

Prepare Your Materials

  • Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
  • Well-draining potting mix
  • Clear plastic wrap or a humidity dome
  • Spray bottle for misting

Sowing the Seeds

  • Sow on the surface of moist seed-starting mix — do not cover the seeds, they need light to germinate
  • Keep the medium evenly moist; moderate light helps prevent weak, stretched seedlings

Provide the Right Conditions

  • Light: Bright light from sowing onward
  • Temperature: 70-75°F (21-24°C)
  • Humidity: Cover lightly until sprouts appear, then remove the cover

Germination

  • Expect germination in 7-10 days
  • Grow seedlings warm and bright; avoid letting them sit in cold, wet mix

Transplanting

  • Transplant after all frost danger has passed and the soil is warm
  • Handle seedlings gently — celosia dislikes root disturbance
  • Space plants 8-12 inches apart

Care Tips

  • Sun: Full sun for the strongest color and sturdiest stems
  • Water: Water regularly; avoid soggy soil
  • Fertilizer: A balanced feed every few weeks supports continuous blooming
  • Deadhead spent plumes to encourage more flowers

Bloom Time:

Summer through fall.
