Prepare Your Materials
- Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
- Well-draining seed-starting mix
- Humidity dome or plastic wrap (to hold in moisture)
- Spray bottle for misting
Sowing the Seeds
- Scarify by nicking the hard seed coat with a nail file or sandpaper, then soak in warm water for 12-24 hours.
- Sow 0.5-1 cm (about 1/4 inch) deep; cover lightly without pressing the soil down.
Provide the Right Conditions
- Light: Bright indirect light.
- Temperature: 68-85°F (20-30°C); a heat mat helps. Keep humid with a dome.

Germination

- Once seedlings have about 5 leaves, they can take light fertilizer and mulch.
Transplanting
- Move to larger pots when seedlings have 2-3 sets of true leaves.
- Space garden plants about 3 feet apart. Note: seed-grown plants vary in flower color and plant size.
Care Tips
- Sun: Full sun to part shade.
- Water: Keep consistently moist but not soggy; water generously in hot weather.
- Fertilizer: Feed regularly during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer.
- Prune in early spring to shape and encourage branching.
Bloom Time:
Spring through fall in warm conditions; each bloom lasts a day, with new buds opening continuously.
