Beacon Formula Mix brings the classic shade color of Impatiens walleriana in a bright blend of clear colors. Beacon is the series PanAmerican Seed bred for high resistance to impatiens downy mildew, the disease that devastated impatiens plantings in the 2010s. Plants form neat, mounded, self-cleaning displays that bloom from late spring to frost.
Why choose our seeds?

How to grow Beacon Formula Mix Impatiens seeds
Choose Your Planting Method
- Indoors: Start indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost.
- Outdoors: Transplant outdoors only after all frost danger has passed and nights stay above 50°F (10°C).
Prepare Your Materials
- Seed-starting trays or pots (if indoors)
- Well-draining potting mix
- Clear plastic wrap or humidity dome
- Spray bottle for misting
Sowing the Seeds
- Surface sow — press seeds gently into moist mix and do not cover; impatiens need light to germinate.
Provide the Right Conditions
- Light: Bright light for germination; grow seedlings in bright, indirect light.
- Temperature: 70-75°F (21-24°C).
- Humidity: A humidity dome keeps the tiny seeds from drying out.
Germination
- Seeds generally sprout within 7-14 days.
- Remove the cover at the first sign of sprouting and keep the mix evenly moist.
Transplanting
- When seedlings have 2-3 sets of true leaves
- Harden off gradually before planting out
- Space 8-10 inches apart
Care Tips
- Sun: Partial to full shade; morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal.
- Water: Keep soil consistently moist; do not let plants wilt.
- Fertilizer: Feed lightly — heavy feeding can delay blooming.
Bloom Time:
Late spring to the first frost.
