Roses with few thorns (almost thornless)

Roses with few thorns (almost thornless)

Hands with many scratches and scars from thorns during rose care are the inspiration for Pemdas Garden to gather a collection of these almost thornless roses.

1. Mon Coeur Rose,
- Origin: Hybridized by Takunori Kimura, introduced in Japan in 2012.
- Characteristics: Climbing, medium height 1.5m - 2.5m.

- Bloom size: 6-8 cm, lasting 5-8 days.
- Fragrance: Fruity scent mixed with musk.
- Repeat blooming: Throughout the year, 4-5 weeks.
- Disease resistance: Good.

2. Queen of Sweden Rose
- Origin: Hybridized by David Austin, England, in 2004.
- Characteristics: Bushy, mature, 120-150cm.
- Color: Pale pink, salmon-pink.
- Bloom size: 6-8cm.
- Bloom endurance: 4-6 days.
- Fragrance: Intensely fragrant, a scent of Apple, Apricot mixed with Orange.
- Repeat blooming: 4-5 weeks.
- Note: Apply appropriate fertilizer; excessive fertilization may result in excessive growth of branches and leaves without sufficient blooming.
3. Gabriel Rose
- Origin: Hybridized by Junko Kawamoto, Japan, in 2008.
- Characteristics: Bushy, mature, 120-150cm.
- Color: Purple, smoky purple.
- Bloom size: 6-10 cm.
- Bloom endurance: 5-8 days.
- Fragrance: Intensely fragrant, herbal scent mixed with fruity notes.
- Repeat blooming: 4-5 weeks.

4. Yves Maiden Heart Rose
- Origin: Hybridized by Imai Horticulture, Japan.
- Characteristics: Bushy, mature, 100-150 cm.
- Color: White.
- Bloom size: 8-13 cm, lasting 4-6 days.
- Fragrance: Refreshing taste like ice cream, intertwined with the scent of Yuzu, Orange, and the deep, intense aroma of ripe Blueberry, Red Currant.
- Repeat blooming: Throughout the year, 5-6 weeks.
- Disease resistance: Good.
- Note: Relatively slow growth due to the focus on flowering. Despite this, it is still among the fast growers in the Yves series. Because of the slender branches and large flowers, staking is needed to support the plant.
